 Ken Burns is an American director and producer who has an estimated net worth of $3.5 million. Ken Burns is an American filmmaker, known for his numerous documentaries as well as documentary series on a variety of historical subjects. His most notable works include "The Civil War", "Jazz," Prohibition," "The Roosevelts," or "The Vietnam War." Burns films have been praised for his utilization of archival footage as well as slow zooms into and out of photos which is known as the "Ken Burns effect. Burns has received over 20 honorary degrees. The film "The Civil War" has won more than 40 major TV and film awards, including two Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, Producer of the Year Award from the Producers Guild of America, and a People's Choice Award, a Peabody Award, a duPont-Columbia Award and an D. W. Griffith Award and the $50,000 Lincoln Prize. His 2017 documentary "The Vietnam War" was also lauded.There is an Ken Burns Wing at the Jerome Liebling Center for Film, Photography and Video at Hampshire College. Burns was given the S. Roger Horchow award for the highest level of public service rendered by an individual in 2004. This is an award which the Jefferson Awards gives out each year.
