Leonardo

A sketch dating back 530 years by Leonardo da Vinci was recently discovered in France. It was revealed at the Parisian auction house, Tajan, valued at 15 million euros, which is approximately $16 million dollars in USD. It's size is 7.5x5 inches. The drawing was drawn with pen and ink. It is one of eight studies which depict the Martyred Saint Sebastian in the manner mentioned in da Vinci's Codex Altlanticus notebooks. The historians believe that da Vinci eventually completed a complete painting, however it is still to be discovered. The sketch surfaced when an elderly French doctor found it amongst his father's papers. The director of old master pictures at Tajan placed it in the 16th century. another expert observed notes made by a left-handed person and believed that da Vinci was a prime candidate. Carmen C. Bambach was the curator of Spanish and Italian drawings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She concluded that the source of the work was da Vinci was incontestable. The thrilling discovery marks the first da Vinci artwork unearthed in over fifteen years, so the steep cost is entirely justified. French law permits the Louvre Museum to present.
