 Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist from South Africa, politician and philanthropist, with an estimated net worth of more than of $1 million as of December 2013. Nelson Mandela served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.The majority of his net worth was through book royalties from his top selling autobiography in 1994's "Long Walk to Freedom". Nelson was a semi-active speaker in good health. When he was president, Mandela slashed his salary and over and above that, he donated 1/3 of his salary to South African children's charities.Towards the close of his life, Mandela's family fought a violent battle over his wealth. Nelson was married three times and had six children.
